Wake Up and Smell the Rose Season at Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar

Discovery

Every spring, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort welcomes the spectacular rose season that transforms the surrounding slopes of the fabled green mountain into a riot of colour with an abundance of indigenous pink Damask roses that burst into full bloom every year from mid-March until May.

Guests of the highest resort in the Middle East can embark on the ‘Rose Water of Jabal Al Akhdar’ tour and witness the enchanting bloom and heady aroma of the Damask roses cascading down the mountain slopes. Accompanied by an expert Mountain Guru, guests commence the 90-minute guided tour of the famed damask rose farms of Jabal Akhdar and one of the oldest rose distilleries to discover the ancestral technique of extracting varieties of pure rose water from the harvest petals.

During the tour, guests will have the opportunity to watch the local rose-pickers in action as they work their way through the different stages of rose water production, from plucking the blossoms from the stems to placing them inside traditional mud ovens, known as ‘Al-duhjan’, for distillation. With a variety of climbing routes and hiking trails, guests can explore the mountain landscapes and soak in the beauty as bushes groan under the weight of flowers in full bloom and the sweet scent of roses wafts in the air.

The signature 90-minute ‘Rose Rescue Ritual’ utilises the soothing, balancing and hydrating qualities of the luxurious Damask roses for a session that pampers from head to toe, starting with a rose themed welcome drink, then a milk and rose petal foot ritual. The session also includes a calming and nourishing rose themed express facial followed by a body massage with balancing rose oils, all within the confines of the resort’s elegant spa.
