Guided by our farm guru, Adil Hussain, guests are invited to plant their very own frankincense sapling within the resort’s flourishing farm. Each tree can be named and marked with a bespoke wooden sign, with quarterly updates keeping your connection alive long after departure. A small pouch of frankincense resin serves as a fragrant memento of this meaningful experience.

Resort key cards, pens and pencils supplied to guests are made with environmentally friendly materials. 

Glass bottles are in use throughout the resort, along with biodegradable straws. We aim for zero single use plastics in our daily operations.

Immersing guests in the spirit of giving back, Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara invites you to donate OMR 1 per night for our "Dollar for Deeds" programme. The resort will match the donations OMR for OMR during your stay to raise funds to support long-term conservation initiatives of the 
Environment Society of Oman such as protecting Frankincense trees, the Arabian Sea humpback whales, and dolphins.

The minigolf course at Anantara Salalah is crafted with sustainability at its core. The design incorporates locally sourced and recycled materials, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation and supporting local businesses. Moreover, it integrates natural elements such as native plants and trees into the course layout, enhancing its aesthetic appeal while also promoting local biodiversity. Experience our new eco-friendly mode of transportation from Mekong Jetty to The Museum of the Land of Frankincense and the Al-Baleed Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your boat journey, you can admire various bird species, before exploring the fascinating history and importance of frankincense. Not available from 23 June - 25 July 2024.

Stretch and dip on our sustainably built open air gym. Climb our ropes or swing from the monkey bars. The Al Baleed Jungle Gym is a sustainable project that combines design and construction to seamlessly integrate into its environment, all while offering a practical and functional area for exercise.

Our farm-to-table philosophy is about more than just eating healthy food. We grow our own vegetables such as radish, cucumber, tomatoes, and spinach in the Al Baleed Vegetable Garden and source others from the Royal Razat Farm in Salalah. Wherever possible, the ingredients and products we use are sourced from local and Omani suppliers. Frankincense and sea salt used at Anantara Spa is for instance from the surrounding area, as well as the spices used in our Spice Spoons cooking class.

Every day our chefs collect fresh ingredients and herbs for their dishes. We grow different herbs in our Mekong Spice Garden. Enjoy the refreshing aroma of mint, lemongrass and basil that is used for our Mekong signature dishes such as Tom Yum and Vietnamese Spring Rolls.

We give special consideration to employing and empowering Omani people in line with our social sustainability efforts. We build relationships within the community.

Hand in hand with our guests, we support and contribute to social and environmental projects in the community. We match guest donations to organisations that provide child welfare and wildlife protection and our team members join at a grassroots level.

Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara has partnered with Oman Food Bank, a private initiative, to distribute surplus food to economically disadvantaged groups in the local community. This collaboration helps reduce food waste and support those in need.

Al Baleed Resort Salalah’s sustainability practices have once again earned the resort Platinum Level Green Growth 2050 Certification in 2023, which covers a wide range of CSR goals from Environmental Stewardship to Health and Safety and Human Rights. The resort was recognized for its environmental efforts and was awarded a silver award in the environment category at the ITB Asia Meaningful Tourism Panel in 2022. Additionally, the resort has pledged its commitment to sustainable travel by signing the UNESCO Sustainable Travel Pledge. This commitment demonstrates the resort's dedication to supporting local communities and engaging in social and environmental initiatives.
