Ubud is one of the world’s cultural icons, with a long history of spirituality and artistry. Explore the town’s palace, museums and ever-present puras, stopping to rest at picturesque cafes or to shop at the art market. Anantara Ubud Bali Resort is located 20 km away from Ubud Centre, approximately a 30-minute drive by car. The resort provides a complimentary drop-off service to Ubud Centre three times daily.

One of Bali’s most famous attractions is in the middle of the town – yet feels like the wild. Here, the macaques that call the 17th century temple home are certainly not shy, and will provide many an Instagram moment.

Bali’s culture is unique from the rest of Indonesia because of its history of Hinduism. Temples dot the island and are worthy of pilgrimage, including the nearby Tirta Empul with its holy springs, and the iconic Besakih, the island’s largest, on the slopes of Mount Agung.

Bali is crowned with mountains that are in fact active volcanoes. The nearby Mount Batur is popular for trekking, while Mount Agung is the highest and most holy, with an entire complex of temples.

Ubud’s rice terraces are UNESCO World Heritage sites, and a must-see on any visit to Bali. While the nearby Tegellalang is possibly the most famous, the further-flung Jatiluwih is the place to truly escape the crowds.

Ubud’s lushness comes from its many waterways, from the gushing River Ayung to the cascading waterfalls of the cave-like Tukad Cepung and Tegenungan.
