Join with your fellow classmates for a generous breakfast spread at Journeys. Then venture to the local market where you can familiarise yourself with local buying customs and the heady scents of indigenous spices. Travel back to the resort in a traditional three-wheeler tuk-tuk to take in views of the town and other attractions in Tangalle.

Breakfast together at Journeys, where you’ll meet your Sri Lankan culinary master. Transfer from the resort to the local market to uncover local produce and spices to flavour your chosen dishes. Wander through the fish market where freshly caught seafood awaits.
After a refreshing Sri Lankan tea, learn how to make chilli paste before getting table decorations from the rice paddies. Travel back to the hotel by tuk-tuk or car for a visit to the resort spice garden. Then learn to prepare four recipes with step-by-step guidance. Enjoy a glass of Prosecco during your lesson.
Add up to three additional recipes (additional charges apply). Other available extras include a guitarist or saxophonist playing whilst guests prepare food and batik painting classes or table decoration.
Each participant receives a Spice Spoons shopping bag with their certificate, an apron, chopping board and box of recipe cards.
