From the moment you arrive, you feel genuinely spoilt and exceptionally well looked after. The level of welcome and attention to detail is evident from the start. The experience begins even before you reach the resort, with the wonderful welcome in the waiting lounge on Phuket Island. Your bags are then transported from there to your suite, making the whole journey feel effortless and incredibly special. The resort location is stunning, the setting and views beautiful and the food, generally, was exquisite. But what really makes Anantara Koh Yao Yai stand out is its people. Despite being a large resort, it manages to retain so many personal touches, and it is very clear that all the staff genuinely care about making sure every guest has a perfect stay. Being able to what’s app personally assigned members of the team is an excellent touch … whether it’s for an activity, restaurant booking, medical care, a buggy in the rain, a spa booking, or even just housekeeping to switch pillow choice! I wish I could remember all the names of the wonderful people who looked after us, as there were so many. However, some deserve a very special mention. Firstly, the two nurses who looked after my husband when he injured his head. Their kindness and care were outstanding, and we were so grateful to them. A huge thank you also to Saint, who spent three days with us arranging and accompanying us on the most amazing excursions. We absolutely loved our time with her sharing her local knowledge. I would particularly recommend the longtail boat snorkelling and island excursion and the motorbike island sidecar experience – both were fantastic and really gave us the opportunity to experience the island. Thank you also to the wonderful spa team, particularly the nail beautician (I think her name was Nadia), who was lovely. And special thanks to the housekeeping team, who kept our suite absolutely immaculate throughout our stay. We did have one small issue during our visit, which related to a special offer we had booked through a third party. It is worth mentioning that if you book any third-party deals involving meal plans, activities or other inclusions, I would strongly recommend printing out the details or taking screenshots with you. Unfortunately, this information does not always get passed on to the hotel, which can lead to some confusion and rather awkward moments at the bars/restaurants. However, I must say that the management team dealt with this extraordinarily well. They were incredibly understanding, proactive and professional, and resolved everything beyond our satisfaction. It really demonstrated just how much they care about their guests. Ultimately, it is the staff who make this resort so exceptional. Every interaction feels genuine, warm and thoughtful, and nothing ever seems too much trouble. We visited to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday, and it has been an incredibly memorable trip for all of us. Anantara Koh Yao Yai made the occasion even more special than we could have hoped. A huge thank you to everyone who made our stay so wonderful. We would return in a heartbeat if it weren’t a 14 hour flight and we cannot recommend this resort highly enough.
