At Anantara, we immerse guests in the most unique and beloved destinations in the world. As such, we are dedicated to preserving them for future generations, working hand in hand with local communities. In the north of Thailand, this extends to our respect and showcasing of Lanna culture that infuses the entire guest experience.

COMMUNITY

We are proud to work with our local community to showcase local surrounds and local customs. Within the resort, guests may experience authentic northern-style banqueting with kad mua, while in the city, our Streetwise Guru recommends the best hidden temples and street foods. We also regularly raise funds for more remote communities and organise educational activities for the children.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

Our award-winning tropical architecture by Kerry Hill maximises shade and ventilation to reduce the use of air conditioning. Solar panels skillfully incorporated into the design have resulted in savings of 15% on energy consumption.

INDIGENOUS WELLNESS

Anantara Spa draws on the healing traditions of each locale for award-winning wellness. Here in Chiang Mai, traditional Thai medicine and specifically Lanna therapies are brought to the fore, delivered by local experts who have passed on knowledge from generation to generation.

LOCAL SOURCING

We source much of what is served in our restaurants from nearby farms which results not only in healthy, delicious flavours for guests, but also a lower carbon footprint. Our welcome drink was designed exclusively for Anantara by local artisans, inspired by ancient Lanna offerings.

WASTE REDUCTION

We continue with our brand-wide efforts to eliminate single-use plastics within our operations. This translates to glass bottles for water and refillable bathroom amenities in all accommodations, and biodegradable straws used in our restaurants and bars. An advanced waste management system ensures what is used is recycled as much as possible.
