Thoughtful actions across our resort

Thoughtful dining extends beyond the plate. Food waste is measured and managed across our kitchens through team training, operational controls and practical waste-reduction measures. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort became the first hotel in the Middle East to achieve Gold certification from The PLEDGE on Food Waste on Food Waste in 2024 and achieved All-Star status in 2025. During the reporting period associated with this recognition, our initiatives resulted in the equivalent of approximately 18,000 meals saved and prevented nearly 10,000 kilograms of carbon emissions. 

Behind every guest experience is a considered approach to how materials are used and managed. In 2024, more than 293 tonnes of waste were prevented from reaching landfill through initiatives including food-waste digestion, garden-waste composting and the recycling of glass, plastics, paper and cardboard. Selected items such as linen, slippers, soap, coffee pods and electronic waste are also donated, reused or recycled through dedicated programmes.

Reducing single-use plastics is a visible commitment across the resort. Our on-site water bottling system replaces disposable plastic bottles with reusable glass, filtered and refilled daily. Plastic straws and short-life items have been replaced with compostable alternatives made from palm waste, supporting local innovation. Stainless-steel stirrers, wooden room keys and contactless technologies further reduce plastic use. We continue to review remaining single-use plastic items and identify opportunities to reduce, reuse or replace them where operationally appropriate.

Our connection to place extends beyond the resort. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort works with organisations including the Special Needs Future Development Center and supports community initiatives through fundraising activities, donation drives and volunteering programmes. These partnerships create opportunities for our team and guests to engage with the wider community in meaningful ways.

Comfort and efficiency work together throughout the resort. Solar thermodynamic water-heating technology and a Building Management System help monitor and regulate key systems including cooling, lighting and water flows. These technologies support more efficient day-to-day resource management while maintaining the level of comfort guests expect from an Anantara stay.

Our progress is supported by independent assessment and recognised industry programmes. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort holds Green Growth 2050 Platinum Certification and achieved All-Star status from The PLEDGE on Food Waste in 2025. The resort has also received recognition through the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp programme, administered by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism. These certifications provide external recognition of specific environmental and operational practices across the resort.
