Sustainability
Preserving luxury hospitality for the future
At the heart of the untamed beauty of Victoria Falls, Anantara’s safari retreat is redefining luxury with purpose. From design that harmonises with our local environment to community-driven initiatives, every element embodies our unwavering dedication to sustainability, preserving the land and its resources for generations to come.
We are proud to be one of the leading sustainable safari lodges in Zimbabwe and are committed to offering an experience that combines heartfelt hospitality with respect for the environment that surrounds us.

Recycling and Waste Reduction
Waste Separation
Waste is separated in our kitchen into food, plastic and paper, with food waste used for composting in our garden.
Single-Use Plastic
Glass bottles are in use throughout the hotel. Water is provided in refillable glass bottles in your room and restaurants. We aim for zero single use plastics in our daily operations.
Solar Energy
We use solar energy where possible in the hotel. We also encourage our partners including Nakavango Volunteer Programme, to do the same, saving up to 50% on electricity.
Water Conservation
We maintain the upkeep of pipes in the area, ensuring there are no leaks and that fresh, clean water is available to the community.
Resources
Vegetable Garden
We grow our own vegetables in our hotel garden, which provides 70% of the fresh produce used by our hotel kitchen, and at Nakavango Conservation Programme, close by.
Community Initiatives
Black Rhino Conservation
Our reserve is a specially dedicated black rhino Intensive Protection Zone, where a successful programme breeds and supports the rare species, one of the largest. Guided game drives are available and the fee contributes to this important work.
Get Your Hands Dirty
Devote some of your valued holiday time to local infrastructure projects. Support our team on the ground and make a difference to the community around Livingstone and Victoria Falls.
Women Empowerment Programmes
We support local unemployed women around Victoria Falls with training and skills development, providing opportunities in poultry and vegetable farming.
Voluntourism
Guests can embark on a variety of voluntourism projects with the on-site Nakavango Conservation Programme, a local programme, from 2-12 weeks, that provides essential conservation work in the private game reserve.
Victoria Falls Community Development Project
Our team actively participate in community forums, leadership meetings and school board discussions. We also help coordinate and manage local development initiatives.
Local School Support
From structural support for renovations and upgrades to a weekly nutrition programme, we are deeply involved with the development of our local education institutions.
Dollars for Deeds
We invite you to make a difference through Dollars for Deeds. Through this initiative, you can contribute to projects at Masuwe Primary School and protect the rare black rhinos that live on the reserve. Your thoughtful donation can enrich lives and preserve our wilderness.
