An Eco-Friendly Resort in Koh Samui

Green at Heart

The resort's landscape, designed by world-famous landscape architect Bill Bensley, harmoniously integrates nature and art. Peeking through the foliage are monkey statues that pay homage to the site's history as a coconut plantation where primates helped humans pluck coconuts from the tallest trees. Keeping our gardens lush and healthy requires considerable water and care. We use only natural fertilisers, such as compost from our mulch machine, and rely on a grey water filtration system that cleans and reuses water for landscaping.

Nothing Wasted, Nothing Lost

Tended by our green-thumbed kitchen team, the chef's garden flourishes with a variety of herbs and vegetables, supplying our kitchens with fresh, organic produce. Any food waste is donated to local farmers as pig feed, while non-organic waste is recycled in adherence to international recycling standards. To encourage recycling among guests, we’ve placed recycling bins throughout the resort and provide trash bags for guests embarking on excursions, encouraging them to bring back waste for proper disposal.

Dollars for Deeds

Through Anantara's signature 'Dollars for Deeds' programme, guests can opt to donate one dollar per night of their stay, with Minor Hotels matching each contribution. In Thailand, funds raised through ‘Dollars for Deeds’ support initiatives such as The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation, The Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation and The Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Center at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

With solar panel plans in place, we will soon be able to use more energy-efficient appliances, making the most of Samui’s year-round sunshine. Additionally, the recently installed centralised heat pumps help us optimise energy consumption across the resort.
Community Engagement

Community Engagement

Keeping Samui’s beaches clean is a team effort. Our weekly beach clean-ups bring together team members and resort guests who collect plastic waste brought in by the tide. Every quarter, we join the Samui Crab Bank team to release endangered crabs raised in the nursery into the ocean, while also allocating a quarterly allowance to support these efforts. 

On dry land, our efforts range from English tutoring and waste management classes for students at Bophut School to blood donation and food drives throughout the year, including a special day dedicated for CSR activities on Minor Founder’s Day celebrated in June.
