⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – An unforgettable experience We returned to the Anantara Rasananda in Koh Phangan for the sixth time and, once again, we left with the same feeling: that of having left a little piece of our heart in this extraordinary place. There are beautiful resorts in the world, but few manage to create such a deep bond with their guests. The location is simply enchanting, immersed in the nature of one of the most fascinating bays in Thailand. The rooms are wonderful, cared for down to the smallest detail, the scents accompany every moment of the day, the breakfast is exceptional, and the gym, recently renovated, is truly an added value. But the real secret of Anantara Rasananda is the people. A special thanks to Tua, who after many years has become almost like family to us. Finding her again is always a genuine joy. And then Kival, the very talented sommelier, the concierge, the housekeeping, and all those guys and girls whose names we might not remember, but whose smiles we never forget. There is one thing we particularly appreciate: returning after months and finding the same faces. It is something rare and precious, which shows how much this property knows how to value the people who work there. And when the staff is happy, this serenity inevitably reaches the guests as well. This year we were even recognized and warmly welcomed upon our arrival in Koh Samui. An apparently small gesture, but one capable of making us feel truly special. Another example of great professionalism was the management of the renovation work at the pool bar: neat coverings, impeccable organization, and work carried out without disturbing the guests' tranquility in the slightest. Even in the most complex situations, nothing is left to chance here. As a GHA DISCOVERY Titanium member, I also greatly appreciated the attention paid to us and the treatment received. But what really leaves an impression is not just the beauty of the resort or the excellence of the service. It is that feeling that is hard to explain, made of serenity, familiarity, and small, sincere gestures. True luxury is not having everything. It is being in a place where absolutely nothing is missing, especially from a human perspective. After six stays, the magic has not faded. On the contrary, it has become even stronger. Heartfelt thanks to the entire team, from management to every single employee, for continuing to make this place so special. We look forward to returning. An amazing hotel with exceptional service. The grounds are beautiful, with a tropical atmosphere, and our room was perfect. We stayed in a pool villa with direct access to the sea—simply indescribable. It was an experience we absolutely must return to.

I have been travelling regularly for the past 13 years, generally taking around five trips a year and staying predominantly in five-star hotels, including some truly exceptional beach resorts around the world. Yet, after my second stay at Anantara Rasananda, I can say with complete confidence that this is my favourite of them all. There are hotels that impress you with their facilities, hotels that impress you with their surroundings, and then there are those rare places that touch you on a more personal level. Anantara Rasananda belongs firmly in that last category. An extraordinary welcome The experience begins long before you reach the resort. From the moment you are met at Koh Samui Airport, everything is beautifully organised. Your luggage is taken care of, and you will not need to think about it again until it appears in your villa. At the resort’s private transfer lounge by the pier on Koh Samui, you are welcomed with refreshments, fresh fruit, light snacks and a wonderfully refreshing lemongrass towel. Showers and other facilities are available to make the wait as comfortable as possible, and the check-in formalities are handled there. Even at this early stage, the experience feels personal and exclusive. After a comfortable speedboat transfer to Koh Phangan, members of the resort team are already waiting on the beach, greeting you warmly with the welcome drink you selected beforehand. You are then accompanied to your villa and introduced to its facilities and amenities. The entire arrival experience is seamless, thoughtful and exceptionally well executed. From the first moment, you feel that everything has been taken care of and that your only responsibility is to enjoy your holiday. A beautiful beachfront sanctuary I stayed in a beachfront pool villa, which was nothing short of wonderful. The villa is exceptionally spacious, with a beautifully appointed, air-conditioned bedroom featuring a comfortable sofa, table, television and a generously stocked minibar, which was included in the stay. One of the villa’s most distinctive features is its extraordinary open-air bathroom. Surrounded by lush tropical plants and incorporating its own garden, it creates a wonderful connection with nature while retaining all the comforts of a luxurious bathroom. The space is remarkably generous, with a walk-in wardrobe, a spacious shower and a strikingly modern bathtub. The combination of elegant design, natural surroundings and abundant space makes this part of the villa particularly memorable. Outside, the generously sized private pool, direct beach access, dedicated sun loungers, private beach beds and a lovely sheltered outdoor daybed create an environment in which you can enjoy complete relaxation and privacy. The entire villa feels like a secluded tropical sanctuary. The beach itself is beautiful and pleasantly uncrowded. When the weather is favourable, the sea is calm and remarkably clear, making swimming an absolute pleasure. Equally impressive are the resort’s lush tropical gardens. Every pathway, every corner and every garden surrounding the villas is beautifully maintained. There is a wonderful sense of intimacy and tranquillity throughout the property. I found myself taking photographs almost every day, often of the same places, simply because I could not get enough of the atmosphere. Having stayed here three years earlier, I was particularly pleased to see how exceptionally well the resort has been maintained. My villa was immaculate, with everything in excellent condition. Daily housekeeping was consistently thorough, and the evening turndown service was equally reliable. I could not identify a single maintenance issue or flaw throughout my accommodation. Hospitality at its absolute finest As beautiful as the resort undoubtedly is, its greatest asset is its people. I cannot emphasise this enough. Every single member of staff I encountered, without exception, was genuinely welcoming, attentive, gracious and wonderfully warm. The smiles, the personal greetings, the thoughtful gestures and the extraordinary attention to detail make an enormous difference. Guests are addressed by name, and the team has a remarkable ability to anticipate needs before they are even expressed. On one occasion, I was simply trying to wave away a small insect near my face when a member of staff immediately approached with insect repellent. It was such a small gesture, yet it perfectly illustrates the level of attentiveness that characterises this resort. Each villa also has a dedicated attendant who can be contacted conveniently via WhatsApp. This personal service works exceptionally well and makes almost any request effortless. Unfortunately, I was unwell for much of my seven-night stay. When I informed the team that I would have to miss breakfast and might require medical assistance, they immediately offered support and thoughtfully arranged for food to be delivered to my villa at no additional charge, as I had been unable to attend breakfast. When I could not participate in a wine tasting, they kindly offered me a cocktail instead. These gestures were never demanded or expected. They were simply offered, with genuine warmth and consideration. At one point, a member of staff said to me, “When you’re happy, I’m happy.” That simple sentence stayed with me. Of course, I understand that delivering outstanding hospitality is part of their profession. I am a host myself, albeit on a much smaller scale, and I know how rewarding it can be to see guests genuinely enjoying themselves. But there is a difference between providing excellent service and making someone feel truly cared for. At Anantara Rasananda, that difference is unmistakable. Breakfast and spa experiences Breakfast was another daily highlight. The buffet offers an excellent selection, including a wonderful fresh juice station where guests can combine fruits and vegetables according to their preferences. I particularly enjoyed being able to create my own healthy juices. What impressed me equally was the flexibility of the team. Mango, papaya and baked beans were not always available on the buffet, but whenever I requested them, the staff happily did their best to provide them. Such personalised attention made breakfast feel special every morning. And then there was the welcome itself. Being greeted by name, accompanied by those wonderful smiles, was genuinely one of the loveliest ways to begin the day. I also enjoyed several treatments at the resort’s spa, including massages and a body scrub. The experience was consistently professional, from the welcome refreshments and traditional foot-cleansing ritual to the treatments themselves. One Thai massage was particularly memorable, wonderfully effective at relieving muscle tension while remaining deeply relaxing. If I were to suggest one small improvement, it would be to warm the massage oils and body scrubs before application. The sensation of cool oil against warm skin can briefly interrupt an otherwise deeply relaxing treatment. Gently warming these products would, in my opinion, make an already excellent spa experience even better. This is a minor observation rather than a significant criticism, and it certainly does not diminish my appreciation of the excellent therapists. A special atmosphere among the people There is another aspect of this resort that deserves recognition. During my stay, I noticed what appeared to be a genuinely positive atmosphere among the employees themselves. In the breakfast restaurant, for example, I could see kitchen staff working diligently while sharing laughter and enjoying light-hearted moments together. There seemed to be a natural warmth and camaraderie between colleagues, something that, as a guest, I found particularly lovely to observe. On my final day, I happened to witness an annual sports event involving employees from Anantara and the neighbouring Avani resort. The singing, dancing, friendly competition and joyful atmosphere on the beach were an absolute delight. Naturally, as a guest, I cannot know what it is like to work here. But I strongly believe that the atmosphere within a team influences the experience it creates for its guests. The warmth I observed between colleagues seemed entirely consistent with the wonderful hospitality I experienced throughout my stay. It was a lovely reminder that exceptional service is not simply about procedures and professional training. It is also about people. A place that stays in your heart Despite feeling unwell for several days, I still thoroughly enjoyed my time here. In fact, the beauty and comfort of the villa made those quieter days remarkably pleasant. Even when I could not venture far, simply sitting outside on my terrace, surrounded by tropical greenery and listening to the sea, felt like a holiday in itself. I have recommended this resort to others, including a colleague who subsequently visited and returned equally enthusiastic. Thailand is already renowned for its outstanding hospitality, but Anantara Rasananda manages to distinguish itself even within a country where service standards are often exceptionally high. I have experienced many wonderful hotels around the world, and I have encountered countless kind and dedicated hospitality professionals. Nevertheless, there is something about this particular place that sets it apart. As I write this at the end of my second stay, I genuinely do not want to leave. I could happily spend another week here, perhaps considerably longer. The thought of returning is already firmly in my mind. Anantara Rasananda is not simply a beautiful luxury resort. It is a place where exceptional surroundings, impeccable maintenance, deeply thoughtful service and remarkable people come together to create something truly special. I would love to bring a little of this hospitality philosophy home and incorporate it into the way I welcome my own guests. Five stars hardly seem sufficient.
