As part of the programme, Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort will play host to a renowned naturopath Dr. Sohal Shah, in residency at the luxury clifftop resort from 15th August – 15th September 2019.
Promoting the body's natural ability to heal, Dr. Shah is an expert in herbal remedies, Chinese cupping and yogic relaxation techniques, which he combines to treat ailments ranging from aches, pains and migraines to insomnia, weight gain and lifestyle addictions.
Dr. Sohal is a daily practitioner of yoga, whose foray into healing was inspired by his grandfather, an Ayurvedic healer. He holds a degree from Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences in Karnataka (India), and has successfully completed studies of Advanced Acupuncture in Hanoi Hospital of Traditional Medicine in Vietnam and of Advanced Dry Needling in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Shah is a member of the prestigious Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA).

A combination of ancient traditional Chinese medicine practice dating back thousands of years and modern physiotherapy practices, Acupuncture (Dry Needling) treatment involves inserting very thin needles through a person's skin at specific points on the body, to various depths, aiming to correct the flow of qi energy. As a result, endorphins and enkephalins - natural feel-good and pain killing hormones - are released helping to deal with pain, migraines, arthritis, sinusitis, general stress, addictions and insomnia.
After a private consultation, Dr. Shah will devise a multi-step Customised Pain and Tension Relief Therapy treatment plan based on different combinations of acupuncture, acu meridian massage, cupping and therapeutic herbal ultrasound. A deeply remedial treatment, it helps to remove tension and pain and improves the flow of qi energy throughout the body.
A natural and non-invasive way to detox, Yogic Intestinal Cleanse method entails the practice of perfecting five specific yoga postures (asanas) while drinking six to eight glasses of lightly salted water to clean the intestinal tract. The hatha yoga practice of shanka prakshalana is known to greatly reduce the levels of blood sugar in the body, almost immediately.
A guided Sleep Meditation known as “psychic sleep” uses different visualisation techniques to awaken awareness and relax and settle the mind making it easier to wind down and drift off.
