Is Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas an Alternative Local Quarantine (ALQ) hotel?
Yes, Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas is a certified Alternative Local Quarantine (ALQ) facility as certified by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Defence.
Is the hotel limited to ALQ guests only, or can anyone stay at or visit the hotel’s facilities?
Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas is limited to ALQ guests only. ALQ guests are confined exclusively to their rooms in dedicated and isolated areas and have no access to the hotel’s public facilities and public areas.
How do ALQ guests travel from the airport to the hotel?
The hotel’s ALQ packages do not include transfers from or to Phuket International Airport. Transportation can be arranged by Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas with an additional charge of THB 1,500 per van per way.
Vans are limited to a maximum of three guests. Seating arrangements comply with social distancing measures and are approved by Thailand's Ministry of Public Health.
Are ALQ guests tested for COVID-19 at the hotel?
Yes. Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas works in partnership with Bangkok Hospital Phuket to look after the health and safety of ALQ guests at the hotel. ALQ guests undergo two COVID-19 screening tests during their stay as well as twice-daily compulsory temperature checks.
What happens if an ALQ guest tests positive for COVID-19 at the hotel?
The guest will be transferred and admitted to Bangkok Hospital Phuket by certified medical staff in line with the Centre for the COVID-19 Situation Administration’s (CCSA) protocols.
Are ALQ guests allowed to leave their rooms?
No, except under the following circumstances:
- Housekeeping service – Servicing of ALQ guest rooms takes place every second day after day five. Guests are required to remain outside the room while the housekeeper services it.
- Smoking – Smoking is only allowed on the room balcony.
- Villa guests – All villa guests can enjoy full use of their private courtyard area and private pool for the entirety of their stay.
Are ALQ guests allowed to use the hotel’s swimming pool?
No, under ALQ certification guests in quarantine are not allowed to enter the swimming pool for recreational use or exercising. However, pool villa guests can use their own private pools at any time during their stay.
Are ALQ guests allowed to use the hotel’s spa and gym?
No. Phuket Provincial Public Health authorities do not permit ALQ guests to use spa or gym facilities during their quarantine stay.
Are ALQ guests allowed to visit each other in their rooms?
No. ALQ guests are not allowed to visit each other in their rooms at any time during their stay.
Are ALQ guests allowed to receive visitors from outside the hotel?
Can married couples share a hotel room?
Yes. A copy of the couple’s marriage certificate must be submitted when making the ALQ hotel reservation.
Can families share a hotel room?
Yes, subject to the maximum occupants allowed per selected room. A copy of the parents’ marriage certificate and children’s birth certificates are required for families with children sharing quarantine villas must be submitted when making the ALQ hotel reservation.
Can friends or unmarried couples share a hotel room?
No. Only married couples and families can share a room.
Do infants stay for free?
No. A supplement for infants is applies no exemption. This includes three COVID-19 screening tests, a twice-daily compulsory temperature check, healthcare services by Bangkok Hospital Phuket and full board meals.
Does the hotel supply baby food, diapers and other amenities for infants?
Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas supplies basic children’s amenities in rooms. For infants, parents are required to bring items such as baby food and diapers. Cold storage facilities for baby food are available upon request. Deliveries from online shopping services are allowed (please see conditions relating to deliveries to hotel rooms below). In addition, the hotel can assist with buying essential items from shops nearby.

Can ALQ guests receive deliveries?
Yes, under the following conditions:• The guest must inform the hotel of the delivery in advance, including date of delivery and estimated time of arrival.
• Upon delivery, the hotel is required to open and inspect the contents, then reseal the package in the presence of the delivery person, before delivering it to the guest’s room.
• For deliveries of prescription medicines, guests must provide a prescription and this has to be authorised by the hotel’s nurse.
• Items prohibited for delivery include food and beverages, alcohol, narcotics, weapons and ammunition.
ALQ guests can receive parcels from family and friends, except for the following items:
• Uncooked food e.g. raw eggs, raw fish or meat.
• Food without the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) label.
• Yoghurt or pasteurised items.
• Drugs, narcotics and all alcoholic beverages.
• For deliveries of prescription medicines, guests must provide a prescription.
• Restricted items such as knives, cutter blades or firearms/guns.
Do I need to pay for my ALQ stay in advance?
Yes, full payment for the selected ALQ package must be made when booking an ALQ stay at Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas. Thai nationals and expatriates holding a credit card issued by a Thai bank can opt to make the payment in instalments – please contact the hotel for details.
Why do ASQ guests have to stay in the hotel for 15 nights instead of 14 nights?
Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health requires ASQ guests to quarantine for 14 full days and counts the date of arrival in Thailand as Day 0, irrespective of the arrival time in the country on that day.
Can I cancel or change an ALQ reservation?
In case of a room cancellation, the advance payment is non-refundable. In case of a change of stay dates, the hotel must be notified in writing 72 hours in advance of the original arrival date and the rebooking is subject to room availability on the new requested dates.
What happens if ALQ stays are no longer required on the date I am due to arrive in Thailand?
If ALQ stays are no longer required by the Thai government on the date you are due to arrive in the country, you will be entitled to cancel and receive a full or partial refund on your advance payment. If the final required date for ALQ stays falls during your 14-night stay, you will receive a full or partial refund for all unused nights.
What happens if the required length of ALQ stays is reduced before or during my stay?
If the required length of ALQ stays is reduced by the Thai government you will receive a full or partial refund for all unused nights.
Can ALQ guests extend their stay at the hotel after the completion of the compulsory quarantine period?
Guest cannot extend their stay at Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas after completion of ALQ programme. However, they are welcome to stay at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas.
Can regular guests come into contact with ALQ guests?
No. ALQ No. ALQ guests stay alone in quarantine at the hotel’s dedicated and isolated ALQ facility and do not encounter other visitors or ALQ guests during their stay. ALQ guests arrive at the hotel directly from the airport upon entering Thailand and enter the hotel via dedicated and isolated back-of-house areas, directly to their allocated rooms.
Do ALQ guests and visitors to the hotel’s restaurants and bars use the same cutlery, crockery and glassware?
No, ALQ guests use separate dedicated cutlery, crockery and glassware that are washed separately in dedicated industrial dishwashers. In addition to closely following the strictest hygiene and sanitation procedures and government requirements, Anantara properties have implemented a Stay with Peace of Mind programme that promotes heightened sanitisation and hygiene measures, with a dedicated Guest Guardian responsible for internal audits based on a series of rigid brand guidelines.
Can the COVID-19 virus travel from one guest room to another through the hotel’s air-conditioning system?
No. Under ALQ certification all guest rooms at Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas have standalone air-conditioning units. Each room’s air-conditioning unit and filters are properly sanitised after the guest checks out.
Does Anantara have a preferred COVID-19 health insurance provider?
Yes, we recommend AXA Thailand’s Sawadee Thailand: Inbound Travel Insurance package, which meets all criteria for ALQ stays at our properties.
